In many areas where DSL broadband internet access is not available, UMTS networks have already been built. But these networks are designed for mobile outdoor reception, not stationary reception inside buildings.

The Active Antenna makes it possible to get a good signal inside buildings. In addition, the built-in directional UMTS antenna provides significant signal amplification for areas with poor coverage.

The Active Antenna consists of a UMTS / GSM antenna connected by cable to a cradle that holds the UMTS USB dongle. This is to ensure that the reception attained by the antenna is passed on with virtually no loss to the UMTS modem. This allows customers to receive broadband internet access over the mobile network.

This is accomplished by connecting the UMTS modem to the router with a USB cable and inserting the modem into the cradle. UMTS signals travel in both directions between the cradle and antenna. The cradle is powered by an AC adapter. The power for the antenna module is provided through the cable that connects the antenna and cradle.

Thanks to the built-in Compensor technology, UMTS signal losses at the cradle and from the antenna cable are precisely compensated.

System and installation:
The Active Antenna is an easy to install, cost-efficient antenna system enabling UMTS internet access. The system features excellent usability and makes maximum data transmission rates available. Included with the active antenna are the cradle for the UMTS stick, the antenna with attached cable, a bracket for mounting the unit on a mast or the wall of a building, a power adapter, and the manual. The antenna is designed for outdoor use and can be mounted to an antenna mast, on a wall, or indoors. The coaxial cable connects the outdoor unit to the cradle and also supplies the antenna with power. The dimensions of the cable (15m long, 3.2 mm diameter) make it easy to install.
